Teaching Material and Reflection by Indri Aryanti on the First Meeting
In the Greek tradition, the term
hermeneutics associated with Hermes (Hermeios), a messenger of the gods in
ancient Greek mythology who served convey and translate the message to the gods
in human language.
According to Carl Braathen hermeneutics
is the science that reflects how a word or future events and conditions and can
be understood and be meaningful in the present but it also contains rules -
methodological rules to be applied in the interpretation and methodological
assumptions of the activity of the understanding.
Below, this is
a picture of the hermeneutics of life by Prof. Dr Marsigit, MA Hermeneutics
life depicted in the picture on this side consists of two aspects, namely the
theory and practice. Illustrated that the practice is located at the bottom and
are located at the top is the theory. The point is that human life is not
directly familiar with the theory, but the start of practice. Start of
something abstract to be concrete. That is, we begin to learn with practice and
intuition, and when it reaches the peak of understanding, we touched the realm
of theory. But when he met with the something new, then we start again from the realm of
practice and intuition. And so on until the end of human life.
Likewise, the study of mathematics.
Hermeneutics of learning mathematics is described by Prof. Dr Marsigit, M. A in
the following figure.
Almost the same as living hermeneutics, in mathematics, the teacher may not give pure mathematics to students. Teachers should change in the form of pure mathematics into school mathematics before introducing the students. School Mathematics mathematics that is described as horizontal, while the vertical math that's pure mathematics.
Ø How do I teach good and meaningful mathematics for elementary school students?
